Pedlar Creative
Sewing

The beginning…

My name is Dianne, although most people call me Dee. I wanted to tell you a bit about myself, my blog & Etsy store – Pedlar Creative.

I’ve always had a passion for creating things and a great inspiration to me was my nan, who was always creating things in her sewing room. She taught me how to sew when I was young and since then I have tried many different crafts including crotchet, knitting and jewellery making.

In my 20’s I went travelling to Europe and lived in the UK for seven years. Through travelling I developed a love for different cultures and cuisines. I love getting in the kitchen now and cooking food from all over the world. I must confess that my addiction for sweets and cakes have also contributed to the many cupcake recipes I have on my bookshelf.

Another passion of mine is handbags and purses. This has been a love of mine since I was little. Over the years I have purchased many handbags, totes, messenger bags – you name it I’ve got it!

It wasn’t until a few years back when I decided to take a sewing class – since I hadn’t used a sewing machine for many years – that I realised I could combine two of my loves – sewing and bags. I haven’t looked back since! Every spare moment I have is spent in my craft room making things and sewing.

After a few years of making bags and wallets for friends and family, and many years of comments about how I should sell them, I’m finally taking the step and opening my own Etsy shop – Pedlar Creative (and a big thank-you to Spence, my partner, for coming up with the name).

The products I will be selling in my shop will all be handmade by me, with the love and care that I make all my own items with. Some will be made from other people’s patterns, and include a credit to the original pattern creator but I’m hoping to start designing my own as I go. With so many bags in my closet and the unlimited inspiration gained from the internet and social media sites – I’m hoping to make designs which are functional, stylish and unique. Watch this space!

You might be asking me why I’m also starting a blog and what my blog will contain? Well I love sewing and crafts and I would like to share that with other’s who are like minded. I’ve found that on my journey so far I’ve taken great inspiration from other’s who have blogs about sewing and even though I don’t have any friends who share this particular interest there are people out there like me who love to create and I wanted to share that with you. Creativity is a journey – hence welcome to my blog Pedlar Creative. I’m hoping to include little bits of information and tips that you may find useful, sewing tutorials, other little craft projects that I’m working on and maybe even some baking and cooking that I’m doing.

I hope you want to join this journey with me…
