A bag for everyone!
Last week was all about my New Year’s ReSEWlutions. But, now that the new year is here, I can finally share with you all the gifts that I made for Christmas. I can’t tell you how hard it is to keep all these makes a secret. Particularly on social media (😂). So over the next few weeks I’ll be focusing on last years presents. And I’m starting with the Woodland Dopp Kit!
The Woodland Dopp Kit pattern is by Klum House. I have to admit, I really love Klum House bag patterns. If you haven’t seen any of their bags it’s worth checking out their website. They make very unique and quite often complicated bag patterns. The Woodland Dopp is one of their easier patterns – so perfect for beginners. Actually one of the things I like about Klum House is that their patterns are very detailed. They also offer lots of online and video resources that may come in handy. Particularly if you try their more advanced bags. And on top of that they also hold online classes for making their bags. This is a feature that is appearing more often when it comes to bag making. It’s a lot easier to be a beginner bag-maker today. Most designers are moving their classes online and more accessible.
Last year when I was searching for gifts to make the Woodland Dopp Kit really shone out. First I know how useful bathroom bags are (especially for travelling). But also because the Woodland Dopp Kit is unisex – so perfect for everyone. I ended up making quite a few for my family.
I’ve made all these Woodland Dopp Kit’s out of a combination of canvas and waxed canvas. Klum House suggest using waxed canvas to help with water proofing. But it also means they keep their shape pretty well. One of the features I particularly love is the football zipper pulls! I knew as soon as I saw them on Etsy that I had to use them for my Dopp Kits. I also love the addition of the leather tabs. It just makes them look so classy!
I’m so happy with how my Woodland Dopp Kits turned out. The pattern was easy to follow and luckily they didn’t take too long to put together. Also the Woodland is a very good size for a bathroom bag. It’s not too small nor too large – which is important. Particularly if you want to use it for travel. But, most importantly, the Woodland Dopp kits were a huge hit with the family!
