Minimalist Wallet

It’s time to downsize…

This week I’ve got another Noodlehead project to share – the Minimalist Wallet. I purchased this pattern ages ago and it’s been tempting me for a while now. Since I don’t carry around as many cards (I love technology) there’s no need for a large wallet. It was definitely time to downsize and the Minimalist Wallet seems like the perfect solution.

If you are a regular reader of my blog you are probably aware of my love for Noodlehead’s patterns. I think Anna is so talented in her designs and fabric choices. The Minimalist Wallet is yet another great design that she has released. The pattern comes with two different sized wallets: a regular and a mini. I couldn’t decide which one to make so I made both! There are also seperate instructions for making a snap tab out of fabric or leather. As usual Anna has made the instructions easy to follow and it’s got very detailed drawings to help you along the way. The pattern skill level is for an Advanced beginner and I would have to agree. If you are not familiar with bag construction you might find it a bit of a challenge.

This pattern doesn’t require a lot of fabric – always a bonus. I made both of these wallets out of some fat quarters I picked up at Spotlight. So unfortunately I can’t tell you what they are called. I really love the light blue flower fabric. I picked up the zippers from Etsy (a shop called Zipit – they have a great range) and you’ll need to have the equipment for installing snaps. Since I love making bags I invested in a DK93 machine which allows you to use different dies for installing snaps, eyelets/grommets and rivets. It’s a bit expensive but I can high recommend it if you think you’ll get use out of it.

So for the past week I’ve been test driving my two new wallets and the verdict is a big thumbs up! They look so stylish and sophisticated. Easy to use and very practical. It’s also great not carrying around a large wallet full of cards. The danger of course is that making Minimalist Wallets might become my new obsession!

  1. I’ve had this pattern for awhile now too. I think you’ve inspired me to give it a go. Your wallets look great!
