And what a whirlwind it has been!
I can’t believe we are almost at the end of year 2022! As I look back over the months I’ve definitely achieved a lot. Probably not quite as much as I set out at the start of the year. But I always tend to aim high in my New Years ReSEWlutions. There has been a lot of highs – like the release of my first pattern! And a few surprise projects like participating in the MS Mega Sew Challenge. Year 2022 has definitely been a whirlwind!
When I look back at the projects I’ve made this year – there has been quite a lot. And there’s been a good mixture of bags and clothes. Like my Pyjama Trousers and Camisole that I made from a repurposed quilt cover. These have become my favourites to take away with me. Unfortunately I didn’t quite reach my goal of making more fitted clothes. But I’m hoping my new dressmaking model (birthday present) will help change that!
Bags, bags and more bags! I do love making bags (in case you didn’t know 😉). This year I’ve made some beautiful ones by Bagstock Designs. The Meraki Backpack and the Sunshine Crossbody Pouch are probably my favourite makes for 2022. I really enjoyed making both of these bags and just love who they turned out. If you haven’t checked out Bagstock Designs – I can highly recommend!
Of course there are always plenty of Noodlehead projects on my to do list. I made a few of my firm favourites; Canvas Pencil Pouches’ and Mini Minimalist Wallets. Plus this year I also made her Tiny Treasures Basket and Tray. And wow! Even I couldn’t believe how great these turned out. The fabric combinations are just perfect together.
One of my proudest moments of the year was the release of my very first bag pattern! This was big for me. The Pedlar Foldover Tote was something I had been working on for a long time. Not only to create the design but also write and create the graphics. I also had a lot of help from my pattern testers – thank you so much! Overall I really enjoyed the process – hard work but definitely worth it. Especially seeing what other people create. So watch this space!
And of course one of my last big projects of the year was the MS Mega (Sew) Challenge. I’d never heard about the challenge before but I was instantly excited.. Most charity events usually involve sports – something I can’t do since being diagnosed with MS. But sewing is something I can do! So I signed up to sew a bag for 12 hours. It wasn’t easy but I got through the day. I not only completed the challenge but also raised nearly $900. The finished Sunshine Crossbody bag has also been donated.
All in all I think the year 2022 has been successful! I reached some of the goals I set out for myself at the start of the year. Plus I did something I thought was no longer possible and sewed a bag for 12 hours straight. It’s a great achievement for me! 😊 Now it’s time to start thinking about next year and what further adventures it may bring?!
Well done Dee! Remarkable achievements! Sewing is certainly the hobby that keeps giving 😊
