Shiloh Blouse

Now I really can’t wait for summer…

So as promised a few weeks ago in my 2020 update post, I did manage to finish off my Shiloh Blouse. Which means now I can tell you all about it! It also makes me extremely keen for Winter to be over and for the sun to come back.

The Shiloh Blouse is part of ithinksew’s ‘Modern & Comfort’ Mocha pattern collection. As you all know I’ve made a few of their patterns in the past. But this is the first time I’ve tried a pattern from their clothing range. I found the Shiloh Blouse pattern easy to follow with very clear instructions and pictures. So it’s good for beginners like me who want to start making their own wardrobe. Of course one of the problems I’ve had in the past is getting my pattern size correct. Most of the clothes I make all tend to be too big or small. Not this time though – my Shiloh Blouse fits perfectly first time around!

There are probably a few things to make note of if you make your own Shiloh Blouse. Firstly the notches that are marked on the pattern aren’t mentioned in the instructions. But the notches are really important because they help you determine which sleeve is the left-side and right-side. They are also quite useful for matching the sleeves to the front and back facings and creating the sleeve gathers.

The instructions also mention overlooking/serging all the pattern pieces before starting. But then the instructions direct you to serge individual pieces as you go. I’ve found serging the pieces as you construct the blouse to be the quickest method. Also the only time the button is mentioned is in the last sentence. I assume that it’s a snap button but you could install a proper button and button hole if you want. There’s no instructions for the installation of either though.

I absolutely love my Shiloh Blouse! I’ve already started to make a second one! It’s a nice quick blouse to sew together and quite easy for beginners like me. It’s certainly given me a confidence boost in making my own clothes. But the best thing is that the Shiloh Blouse is really my kind of wardrobe style. Now I just have to wait for the weather to get warm enough to wear this beauty out and about!

p.s over the next few weeks I’m going to be busy making face masks for family and friends. So it might be a few weeks before I have a chance to  post again. I’ll try and keep you all updated on my facebook page though!
