A new home for my iPad!

You all know my (not so secret) love for bags by now. Well this love also extends to all types of accessories such as wallets and pouches. So when I come across a free pattern for making a tablet cover I always want to give it a try! This week I decided to try the Quinn Cozy pattern by Fancy Tiger Crafts.

Fancy Tiger Crafts is a store based in the US that offer all sorts of things for sewers/knitters. They have a physical store (if you are lucky enough to live locally) but also an online store. Apart from selling patterns and fabrics etc they also offer classes, tutorials, an online journal, blogs and inspirational crafting stories. They also have a selection of free patterns available – and who doesn’t love a free pattern! So if you haven’t been to their website it’s well worth having a look.

The Quinn Cozy is a sleeve to protect your technology such as tablets or laptops. And since all these devices come in different sizes it requires you to do some measuring to ensure the sleeve will fit. Luckily the pattern comes with instructions for calculating how large the different pattern pieces should be. Most of you will probably be quite good at changing pattern sizes and including seam allowances etc. I’ve also had a bit of experience with this. But I still found the pattern instructions for device measurements to be quite handy.

The pattern is aimed at a beginner so it’s got very easy instructions to follow with some pictures to help. One thing to be aware of is that the materials list includes a leather closure kit that Fancy Tiger Crafts sell (or normally anyway – there’s none on their website at the moment). Instead I decided to use some of the leather straps from my stash.

The final conclusion for the Quinn Cozy – I think it’s an awesome little project. I love the look of the two fabrics on a diagonal and I think the leather closure makes it look really sophisticated  and sleek. I’m very impressed with the end result! Now my iPad has a new case when I go out and about.
