Pyjama Trousers

Is there such a thing as too many Pj’s?

I don’t think so! But I do spend a lot of time at home and wear pyjamas daily. So it’s nice to have a good variety to choose from. Plus sleepwear patterns are usually easier for beginner sewers (like me). When I came across this Pyjama Trousers pattern I knew I wanted to make myself a pair.

This Pyjama Trousers pattern is from The Great British Sewing Bee Book 1. Yep – you read that right – it’s the book from the first season of the Bee! Unfortunately its no longer printed but you might find a secondhand copy. Or you might even find it in your local library? The good thing is that you can still download & print the patterns for free

This pattern is designed for beginners. It’s rated; Very Easy. Which shows how far I still have to go in my quest to sew my entire wardrobe. And not only that but I also managed to make a fairly big mistake when sewing the waist band. I accidentally sewed the button holes in the wrong place. Of course I didn’t realise I had done it wrong until i was finishing my Pyjama Trousers. To be honest – my big mistake was not re-reading the instructions. Hopefully I have learned that lesson now.

I absolutely love the fabric I chose for my Pyjama Trousers! You might not recognise it, but it’s more fabric from the quilt cover I’m repurposing. I made my Kimono Style Bathrobe out of the front cover and my Pyjama Trousers from the back. I’m so glad I’m using this fabric to make sleepwear. It’s such a lovely, thick, silky cotton. And it’s 100% cotton, so it does crease, but it also breathes. Perfect for Pyjama’s in my book!

Even though my Pyjama Trousers aren’t exactly perfect – I still absolutely adore them. I’m certainly not going to let a small mistake stop me from wearing them (all the time!) And I’m so glad I’ve decided to keep my damaged quilt cover and repurpose it. It’s great for the environment and saved me money. Plus I still have plenty of fabric left over for more projects – like my Camisole (I will be writing about that next). Sustainable sewing and fashion are definitely the way to go. My Pyjama Trousers not only look awesome but are also good for the planet!
