Stepping out with a new bag…
So I’ve finally finished ithinksew’s Lola Bag! It’s taken me quite a while to complete because its been a busy couple of months. I know my project in progress blog was posted quite a while ago so if you missed it you can find it here. I’m so glad it’s finished and I’m really happy with how it turned out!
This pattern is a downloadable PDF and comes in two different sizes. I’ve made the larger of the two bags. Something to note if you are planning to make this bag. I found the size of the gusset for the main section of the bag to be a bit too short. It barely reaches the marked ‘A’ spots on the main exterior/interior pieces. I think that if you added an extra 1/4” to each gusset piece you would find the extra length works a bit better.
The pattern has the skill level of easy but I would say it’s directed more towards the intermediate sewer. There are some difficult sections – in particular the front gusset pocket and the corners where the gusset and main panels meet.
I’ve been using the Lola Bag as my main day bag for the last week and I have to say it’s fast becoming my favourite bag! It fits all my essentials, including my iPad. I love the front pocket with the velcro fastener as it’s so easy to access my phone and work pass. I’m really glad I added the extra interior pockets to fit daily necessities. I definitely think I made the right decision using this lovely Cloud 9 fabric with the contrasting leather straps. Overall this bag is both stylish and functional and I would definitely recommend adding it to your own collection!
