The Geek-Chic iPad Case

It’s finally finished! I’m very excited I’ve finally finished The Geek-Chic iPad Case by Lisa Lam. I’ve been wanting to make this bag for so long. I have to say it feels great to have finally finished.

The pattern can be found in Lisa Lam’s book – A Bag For All Reasons but I also found it for free on an old blog ‘How About Orange’. The internet is a great when you find stylish bag patterns for free but I do recommend Lisa’s book. It’s full of great designs that most bag enthusiasts will love.

Geek-Chic iPad Cover

This pattern is more suited to intermediate sewers, but I wouldn’t want to dissuade the adventurous beginners! There are good written instructions but not a lot of photos. I also found the decovil quite tricky to work with. It’s very stiff making it harder to turn the bag right side out. There is also a lot of layers of fabric to sew through so I had to use a stronger needle (100/16) and a higher thread tension for some areas.

I really love this bag. The only comment I would make is that the pockets can’t fit much in them other than my phone. Although I think my iPad is bigger than what the pattern dimensions were made for. Next time I might make the case slightly larger or only make one pocket.

Coffee and Geek-Chic iPad Case

The exterior fabric is a quilters cotton and really cute with all the coffee cups! I purchased the fabric from Spotlight a few years back and had it in my stash just waiting for the perfect project. It’s now time to go down to the cafe with my new bag!
