Gifts for Children
So over the next few weeks I’m going to be blogging about the Christmas gifts I made for my family last year. I didn’t want to spoil any surprises by blogging about them beforehand! This week I’m going to show you the Christmas gifts I made for my nieces and nephews. The inspiration came from a Christmas present my brother received when he was young. He got a cushion with his favourite football team on it and he loved it! This got me thinking and I decided that a blanket might be just as popular? If it had their favourite football team or cartoon character?

Well I got to work making a total of 5 blankets for all the children. They are quite simple to put together if you know how to make your own bias binding. (I promise I will write you a tutorial on how to make your own!) Although this is the only technique you need to know it is quite a labour intensive project. You need to make a lot of bias binding to get all the way around the edge of the fleece and this takes a lot of time. It is also takes a while to assemble. So my advice is to give yourself plenty of time if you decide to make your own.

On Christmas Day they were an absolute hit with the kids! Whew! Its always good to know that they love the gifts. They are also going on a caravanning holiday during the summer break so the blankets will be useful too. I think I might be up for favourite Aunty!
